Types of Build Styles

Swan Creek has several different build styles for various applications or budgets. We can find the right mix of detail and function.

Build Highlights:

  • Classic Construction is a Swan Creeks face frame cabinet with 0.5” reveal, 0.625” plywood construction, 0.625” plywood adjustable shelf with 1.25” wide X 0.75” thick shelf band. 0.5” and 1.25” overlay soft close compact euro hinges are used to achieve the desired reveal per scenario.
  • Occasionally, other overlay hinges are employed to achieve the look, or overcome a circumstance; 0.75”, 1”, and universal hinges.
  • Classic’s face frame is predominately 1.5” with wider top rails to accommodate for crown and trims (typically 2.25”).
  • Wider stiles are also used at wall terminations; allowing door/drawer clearance near casings and base, providing more scribe to adjust fit/finish to wall, and allowing room for hardware/accessories adjacent to walls.
  • Finished ends are veneer, flat paint-grade substrate, or a panel; all of which are joined, sanded flush, and finished to the face frame.
  • Classic drawers are English dovetailed, 0.625” thick hardwood, with full extension soft close undermount slides.

Build Highlights:

  • Hoods, mantles, floating shelves, posts, corbels are some examples of custom products.
  • Many of these items are “one-off”; engineered and built to a specific desired look, or to fit a particular situation.
  • There are a few standard options that have been repeated historically, but these items are generally executed situationally.

Build Highlights:

  • This is a face frame cabinet.
  • The doors and drawer fronts are "inset" making them flush with the face frame
  • More material is used for inset as each box opening is built out flush with the face frame; eliminating “common” or shared, partitions and dividers.
  • The standard is 3/32” door and drawer front gaps at all openings.
  • Inset hinges are long arm, euro. Drawer construction is the same as Classic.
  • Door strikes are installed in all openings just behind the face frame to allow a rest point for the doors. Shelf construction is the same as Classic.

Build Highlights:

  • 0.75” melamine with a 1mm PVC edge band.
  • Shelves are the same material. Full overlay doors with a long arm, euro hinges.
  • Drawer cores are the same as our classic line.
  • Items can be added to FMS to upgrade (for an additional cost).
  • Painted or stained doors, and mouldings such as crown and base.
  • Separate end panels can also be applied, either flat or paneled.
  • 0.125”-0.1875” reveals are typical for FMS.
  • The upper and base cabinets are constructed in the same manner as Classic, the difference being the material.
  • Typical doors for FMS would be the same melamine material with a 1mm band, or a traditional 5 piece door.

Build Highlights:

  • This is the same construction method as FMS.
  • The materials are the difference.
  • Birch or maple veneer are used for the box rather than melamine, and the edge band is solid wood, .125” thick. A variety of options and upgrades are also available just as with FMS; applied panels, and additional mouldings.
  • Typical doors for FP would be a banded substrate .125” thick hardwood, then veneered over, or choose from a traditional 5 piece door.
